GARAGE UPDATE

It's been a while since we've posted an update about the garage - mainly because we've been too busy doing tree jobs all summer to work on it. Progress has been slow, but we're excited that the garage doors, radiant heated floors and insulation should all be completed by the holidays.

Riki has also started cutting boards for the interior walls and a few other projects he has in mind. We're very happy to be using wood we already have for not only the garage, but for the outdoor furnace system we had installed to heat the entire property. Everything at our house is either reused, repurposed or recycled!

MEMORIAL HALL LIBRARY PLANTING

We were recently asked by the Memorial Hall Library to donate some of our time and our expertise to select and plant a new tree by the newly renovated back entrance. The tree that was chosen is a beautiful Armstrong Red Maple:

A few images from the planting last week:

Here it is now in it's new home:

We hope that it will be enjoyed by all the residents of Andover for many many years!

GARAGE PROGRESS...

Riki and Fletch (as well as our team of great friends/contractors) have been doing an incredible job on the new garage and we are weeks away from completion! Our new outdoor furnace, which will heat the house, garages, hot water, and pool, soley by wood fire, is up and running, and the roof is due to be finished this week.

RIP DAN

We're very sorry to share the passing of one of our own. Dan was a dedicated employee for over 20 years and a dear friend to our family. We will always remember him for his incredible skill as a tree climber, as well as for his riotous storytelling abilities. He had a kind heart, and could always bring a smile to the faces of those around him. He will be forever missed, and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.

GOOD LUCK ERIC!

One of our favorite employees (and people) left to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail today. The cake above we made for his going away party this past weekend. He's starting at Springer Mountain in Georgia, and plans to hike the full 2,100 (approximate) miles to Mount Katahdin in Maine by the end of June. Eric, we wish you wonderful weather and happy memories during your journey. Good luck from all of us!

RECENTLY IN THE YARD

So far it's been a busy start to 2012! We're in the process of building a new garage/office, which we're super excited about. This is a demolition shot, and we've made great progress since this picture was taken. Will share more pics soon.

We've also expanded our firewood operation this year. Make sure to keep us in mind for seasoned firewood next fall!

And Sampson has been having a hard time adjusting to all the new puppies in our family. Here he is getting into trouble with the Christopher's dog, Daisy.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAMPSON!

Sammy is 4 today! Here he is with the newest addition to our family - Tuukka the mini puggle. In typical Sam fashion, he is more afraid of the puppy than the puppy is of him. Happy Birthday!
